A Letter from the Director...
Dear Friends,
Welcome to our production of Newsies! What a joy it is to gather together and share this inspiring story of courage, unity, and the power of standing up for what’s right.
Bringing this show to life has been an incredible journey—one that could never have happened without the unwavering support and dedication of so many. To our students: your passion, creativity, and perseverance have truly brought these characters to life. You’ve worked hard, encouraged one another, and used your God-given gifts to shine on and off the stage.
To our parents: thank you for your countless hours spent helping with costumes, sets, transportation, meals, and everything in between. Your support behind the scenes is the backbone of this production, and we’re deeply grateful. Thank you also to Christi Wildes for the use of Uplift Performing Arts for our all day rehearsal.
A special thanks to Andy Westfall (Atlanta, GA), who generously donated the printing press you’ll see on stage tonight; and to Scott Kinney of It’s All Staged (Atlanta, GA), who went above and beyond to ensure our set looks amazing. Thank you also to Scott Seidl and Roy Lewis of the Augusta Players—your wisdom, encouragement, and willingness to pick up the phone when we call means more than you know. The theatre community is alive and well in Georgia, and we are thrilled to be a part of it!
To our amazing choreographer, Stephanie McCullough: thank you for sharing your time, your talents, and your heart with us. Your creativity and passion have brought energy and life to every step on this stage.
And to Chris Norris—truly, we wouldn’t be here without you. Your steady leadership, encouragement, and deep care for our students have guided this production every step of the way. I am blessed to be part of your team.
As a Christian school, we’re always looking for opportunities to reflect God’s love and truth—even in the stories we tell on stage. Newsies is a reminder that each of us is called to stand boldly for justice, to lift one another up, and to be a light in the world. My prayer is that this production encourages all of us to do just that.
Thank you for being part of our audience tonight. We hope you enjoy the show!
With gratitude,
Kristen Dykes
