Mark Swezey
Director
Originally from New York City, Mark attended St. John’s University, Ottawa University, and the University of Kansas. After finishing school, Mark studied acting and directing at the famed LaMama ETC in New York City, which is an experimental Off-Broadway Theatre where students developed their craft with gifted artists. This was a life-changing experience.After returning to the Midwest, Mark became the Theatre Director at Shawnee Mission South, where he created one of the most vibrant and student-led theatre programs in the Midwest.Mark has received numerous awards for his work in educational, community and professional theatre. At South, his 2003 production of The Fantasticks was adjudicated as one of the top ten high school productions in the country.Recently his production of SIX was performed at the Kansas State Festival where it received the highest rating for a production at the Festival.In 2017, Mark was inducted into the KS. Thespian Hall of Fame.

Skip Gordon
Technical Director
Skip has served as Technical Director for Shawnee Mission South since 2012. He is also Technical Director for StageWorx KC. He has worked around the KC area as Technical Director for Rockhurst University, Technical Director for KC Fringe Festival, and Director of WaterFire KC. He has also worked at many theatres around KC, Barn Players, Stone Lion Puppets, Shawnee Mission Theater in the Park, Unicorn Theatre, and Chestnut Fine Arts.

Jay Coombes
Costume Coordinator
Jay is an Actor, Singer, Director, Choreographer and costumer who celebrated his 50th year of theater in 2022. His first show, WIZARD OF OZ, was directed by Mark Swezey. Jay studied Music Education at Ottawa University and started his Kansas City theater journey in 1984. In addition to Costuming at SMS, Jay is a substitute teacher in the Shawnee Mission District and teaches voice at Miller Marley School of Dance and Voice. Favorite roles include Max in THE PRODUCERS, Nostradamus in SOMETHING ROTTEN, Sparky in FOREVER PLAID, Mushnik and the Voice of the Plant in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, Nicely Nicely Johnson in GUYS AND DOLLS, Edna Turnblad in HAIRSPRAY, Ira in LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, TITO in LEND ME A TENOR Herr Schultz in CABARET, The Baker in INTO THE WOODS, and Amos Heart and Mary Sunshine in CHICAGO.
