It is with immense pride and joy that I welcome you to Matilda the Musical Jr.,
St Patrick’s College’s very first musical production as a combined College.
Tonight’s performance is the culmination
of months of dedication, creativity, and collaboration. Our students have poured their hearts into every rehearsal, every note, and every line — demonstrating not only their talent, but also the power of their perseverance, imagination, and teamwork.
A production of this scale can only happen when a community comes together and I commend our students for their courage to step into the spotlight and embrace every challenge along the way. Their resilience and passion are an inspiration to us all.
The Arts play a vital role in education, and research continues to affirm what educators have long known — that music, drama, and dance strengthen the brain, support emotional wellbeing, and nurture confidence, empathy, and creativity. When young people are given the opportunity to explore The Arts, they are not only learning to perform; they are developing the skills that will allow them to think critically, connect with others, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
This production is a shining example of what can be achieved when students are given the chance to express themselves through music and performance. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to our incredible staff, whose guidance and passion have brought this show to life, and to the families and community members whose encouragement has supported our students every step of the way.
Tonight, as the curtain rises, we celebrate not only a wonderful performance but also the beginning of a new tradition in the cultural life of our College. Thank you for joining us in celebrating the magic of The Arts and the brilliance of our students.
Enjoy the show!
